Launching seamonkey after installation (the very first installation of seamonkey on a Windows 7), and it can not connect to its own website http://www.seamonkey-project.org due to a certificate problem!

Here's the alert shown by seamonkey when launching it:

"This Connection is Untrusted

You have asked SeaMonkey to connect securely to http://www.seamonkey-project.org, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, websites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this website's identity can't be verified.

What Should I Do?

If you usually connect to this website without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the website, and you shouldn't continue.

This is not necessarily a problem with any version of SeaMonkey or the http://www.seamonkey-project.org site. This is very likely due to a antivirus you have installed that is trying to help you but instead makes it worse with https:// connections.

The article is for Firefox but still applies for SeaMonkey since fix is done on antivirus client.

I downloaded and installed SeaMonkey Setup 2.48.exe, from http://www.seamonkey-project.org. But I can't launch it, as described above.

I tried again with a brand new profile and it works as intended. I agree with James. Probably you antivirus product or something else is intercepting https traffic.

Dear James, I appreciate your answer. I did see it earlier but I wanted to try a solution before replying, and it took me much longer than expected.

Yes, I use an internet security suite (Kaspersky Total Security) that scans encrypted connections. But I do not want to cancel this feature. Therefore, I searched for its certificate. Couldn't find it via the application, but I then had the idea to get it from a browser that I'm using. So I saved/exported it from firefox and then I imported it into seamonkey.

When I refreshed the seamonkey start page, it started. So the problem was fixed by importing the certificate of the antivirus to seamonkey. I wrote the steps as it might be useful for others.
