I went back to version 56.1 because latest version wouldn't show in context menu.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/
and then don't update it.

I've had problems with NoSquint Plus myself in the past with the settings panel opening in the top left hand corner of FF with barely an inch of it showing as can be seen in this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/ap2JN9J.png

Fortunately, at the moment it's behaving itself and zoom levels remain at whatever I've amended them to. What I suggest you do here is to uninstall it and then exit Firefox via the File ---> Exit menu rather than just clicking the Close button (X). Then restart it again and download the latest version https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... us/?src=ss

I notice as well that the developer has removed the version which as supposed to be compatible with FF56 and replaced it with version 61.3 yesterday according to the Version History page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/

If that doesn't help, uninstall it again and go back to using version 54.0 which is what I finally got to work properly. This means that you have to disable automatic updates in the extensions control panel. Hit CTRL+Shift+A to open that and then click the gear icon. Finally, click "Update Addons automatically" to remove the checkmark. Just make a note somewhere to remind yourself to use the same gear menu to manually check for updates from time to time.

It's gone pear-shaped on me too now. It no longer appears in the context menu and the panel isn't movable anymore after updating to the latest version. A user posted a review on the AMO site mentioning that the developer has incorporated time bombs into older versions so that they stop working after a while.

If it's of any use to anyone, I have these settings configured for global colors: http://imghst.co/62/QWpI7Hzx.PNG but the individual site settings don't remain in place anymore.

Zoom can be controlled manually with CTRL++ and CTRL+ - or by moving the mousewheel if you use one. I removed the additional zoom buttons which are provided since they take up to much space on the toolbar.

I think it's pointless emailing the developer because he never responds, or at least he's never replied to my queries.

Yep, evidently NS Plus has been a PITA since day one...when removed it.
Up to and including Fx 56.

For Fx57

Never had a problem with either.

With all due respect my friend, my concern is not with the zoom function but with the font color. I've reached an age where all the bits start to wear out and my eyesight isn't what it used to be anymore alas. NoSquint Plus at least allows me to change the font color to black which the extensions you referred to can't do.

But it seems we have the Web Accessibility Initiative to thank for all these light coloured fonts floating around the web according to the Daily Telegraph. While those of us with 20/20 vision won't have a problem with them, us oldies really do have to squint in order to read a sentence when both text and background are almost the same color.

Personally, I don't consider zooming to be the answer. I can read a 13 point lettertype quite easily as long as it's black and not a pale grey color on a white background. All I ask is the option to made available which enables the color change.

Thank you for that link! I don't know how much longer this mindless grey-on-grey will continue. I've made up my own half-baked CSS to overcome this issue for most web pages.

All half-baked CSS welcome here! Would you be willing to share your settings? Pleeeeeeease :)

I managed to get an older version of NS Plus working by uninstalling the latest incarnation of it which is 61.3 and then restarting FF. Then I reinstalled v54 which didn't work followed by v56 which also failed, but v56.1 seems to have restored it to its former glory again although it's still missing in the context menu. Still, the menu is movable and the settings remain in place after being saved. How long it'll last though is anybody's guess.

I too have tried the latest version, 61.3?, and it is not at all close in abilities of prior versions.
Does not hold settings when 'saving' them.
There are to indication of the zoom percentages on the icon.
Sites do not always honor the percentages even for that session.
Seems like the No Squint Plus author needs to rethink his project.
This is a shame as I really like what the prior versions were about.

I have abandoned No Squint Plus for Zoom Page WE, which is v57 ready unlike No Squint+.

Zoom Page WE Can you change background colors, text size and color of individual web pages. Or should I wait for Nov 14 to make a decision?

thanks
