I'm starting to worry about the upcoming change to extensions in FF57.
Is there anything I can do now which will make things easier once I've updated to FF57?
Thanks

Backup your profile, you could then use it along with a Portable Firefox installation of an older Firefox for experimentation or to recover data. If you are using a password saving extension, export or write down your passwords. If you are using a session saver, restore all sessions and bookmark them using ctrl-shift-d to bookmark all tabs into a bookmark folder. Take a screenshot of the list of extensions you currently have, or print the about:support page, so you can remember the names of what they used to be.
Additionally, this spreadsheet may help find replacements for some extensions: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/commen ... cy_addons/
Also note that adblock plus and ublock origin have beta versions which are webextensions and will work.
The official replacement finder is here: https://mozilla.github.io/extension-finder/ It may improve, for now its results are marginal.

If your extensions don't work on Fx57, they will continue to work on Firefox ESR (same as Firefox 52 but updated with security patches unlike regular Fx52) for another 9 months or so.
That would give you more time to see what to do in second half of 2018.
