Permanently disable Lighting addon

Post by KilliK »

Hello.

TB has a native addon called Lightning. I disable it but it is automatically re-enabled whenever there is a new TB update.
Is there a way to keep it disabled even when TB updates? I dont want to uninstall it.

I haven't run into that problem when having Thunderbird update itself because I uninstalled, rather than disabled it. Lightning is large and a resource hog, I don't want to have it loaded if I'm not using it. Why don't you want to uninstall Lightning?

This appears to be a duplicate of your http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3009269 thread. It mentions https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182629 which describes a problem with Thunderbird sometimes re-enabling disabled add-ons. That bug report is still marked new and unassigned to anybody.

I read bug 1182629.

That isn't easy to figure out.

There is no solution. (wait for someone to submit a patch)
