because my MBA travels, I don't like AC to run on passwords. User IDs fine, but not passwords.
I can't seem to clear one entry no matter what I try.
Ffx 56 for Mavs.

Might the particular entry be store in a cookie (insecure, I'd think) rather then as a "password"?

nope, that's not it.

trying form history control add-on. - NG.

I guess the only option appears to be to remove the site completely eliminating both the user ID and pw.

I use a third party tool for entering sensitive data called Keepass. The context menu provides an option to copy/paste username and/or passwords without revealing either. See the screenshot on the home page: https://keepass.info/

I also use the plugin called DataBaseBackup (third one down in the "Backup & Synchronization" list) to make automatic backups of changes. https://keepass.info/plugins.html

unfortunately, Keepass seems mostly developed for Winows. I'm on a Mac. But thanks.
