32 bit now its 64 bit

Post by dude9O5 »

Hello... So what happen to the 32 bit firefox version ? I'm not a fan so far of the 64 bit . There was a time and not to long ago the 32 bit version was the default version, is it even available any longer ? Thanks

What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.

Its still being built, but is no longer default for 64-bit systems. Every system that is capable of running 64-bit Firefox will be transitioned to the 64-bit version.

The main purpose of Fx 56.0.1 update
https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/56.0.1/releasenotes/

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/55.0/releasenotes/
Simplified installation process with a streamlined Windows stub installer
Firefox for Windows 64-bit is now installed by default on 64-bit systems with at least 2GB of RAM
Full installers with advanced installation options are still available
As this thread was about the current Release and not development builds, Moved from Firefox Builds.

Well, my font is acting weird, some times its to big and other times its to small, whether its this build / 64 / or even maybe W10 because I did a clean install of W10 latest . It also could be NoSquintplus issues, even coping and pasting isn't working that good . I never had these issues with the 32 bit and it just could be a coincidence

32 bit isn't that much better since I'm using it now. I also notice in both bit under tools, options, if I select to change the font size set at 15 to what ever nothing happens

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

I try both method, first I don't have many addons only 4 so I just disable them . The font is just to small for me . Though, I'm curios under Options > Fonts & Colors setting why when I try changing that nothing happens

1. Disabling extensions is not the same as starting in Safe Mode so you should still try that.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quoting dfoulkes:

-- What safe-mode does ..... Safe Mode temporarily affects the following:
* All extensions are disabled. --- * The userChrome.css and userContent.css files are ignored.
* The default theme is used, without a persona. --- * The default toolbar layout is used.
* The Just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compiler is disabled. --- * Hardware acceleration is disabled.

-- Safe Mode has no effect on the following --
* The status of plugins is not affected.
* Custom preferences are not affected.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. It would still be useful to create a new test profile and test in that environment. It could be config settings in the current profile rather that extensions that are causing trouble.

You speak of fonts not being the same size on different websites. Could you check the magnification of your pages? Quite some time ago, magnification was a general criteria that applied for all websites until one closed Firefox. Now, it is a parameter that is remembered per site. And the way you speak, it could very well be that you don't see all your websites at 100 % size.

How to change magnification?
– To enlarge, either press Ctrl-= or Ctrl-+. Or roll the mouse wheel one way.
Enlargement will go from 100% to 110%, 120%, etc.
– To shrink, press Ctrl-–. Or roll the mouse wheel the other way
– To reset to normal size, press Ctrl-0

How to see if your web page is enlarged or shrinked?
Unless you have configured Classic Theme Restorer or some other gizmo to hide it, the percentage appears at the right end of the address bar when it is anything but 100 %.
