which file or folder contains email accounts & settings?

Post by ginahoy »

I just created a new Thunderbird profile for testing purpose. I want to copy my two AOL email accounts (IMAP) to the new profile. The following folder looked like it would do the trick, so I copied it over to the new profile:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\ImapMail

ImapMail contains the following folders and files:
imap.aol.com.msf (file)
imap.aol-1.com.msf (file)
imap.aol.com (folder)
imap.aol-1.com (folder)

However, that didn't set up the email accounts. So which file or folder contains the accounts & settings?

See this article for information on the location of the Thunderbird profile and the files it contains -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

See this for information on migrating from an old profile to a new -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... hunderbird
For a concise, less detailed version of the process, see this thread --

Thanks Dan. Full profile migration is of no interest in this case. Neither of the two forum threads you linked answer my specific question: which file contains the email account settings. Digging into the 2nd kb link, I found exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Account Settings
prefs.js
You may need to manually edit the paths in prefs.js to reflect the new profile location.
