Need a new media autoplay toggle button
I need a new toolbar button to toggle media autoplay with SeaMonkey 2.49. Custom Buttons does not work with this version. There must be some way to toggle a pref setting with a button.

If this method will not work with newer SeaMonkey version:Anonymosity wrote:I need a new toolbar button to toggle media autoplay with SeaMonkey 2.49. Custom Buttons does not work with this version. There must be some way to toggle a pref setting with a button.

Re: Need a new media autoplay toggle button
That is what I used to create the toggle button, but It does not work with SM 2.49. The only add-on that I could find that described what I wanted was too old. For now, I am back to Flashblock, which is definitely not perfect, but it can block HTML5. When I want to use HTML5, I have to toggle Flashblock off.

What's the pref that needs to be toggled?
I have a standalone extension that toggles media.navigator.permission.disabled, and that works in 2.49.

Re: Need a new media autoplay toggle button
I need to be able to toggle media.autoplay.enable. There are a few pages where autoplay has to be enabled, but most of the time you can click a play button and have the video work, and I do not like automatic playing.

Re: Need a new media autoplay toggle button
Let me know if this works:
https://github.com/IsaacSchemm/autoplay ... /tag/1.0.0
It's a legacy (restartful?) extension instead of using the old add-on SDK.
This could also be a nice base for making other similar standalone extensions, if someone wants to do that.

It works! Thanks a bunch. What does media.autoplay.allowscripted do? I noticed that that one also gets toggled.

That one is specific to Pale Moon:Anonymosity wrote:It works! Thanks a bunch. What does media.autoplay.allowscripted do? I noticed that that one also gets toggled.

Autoplay of media now has a separate control preference for scripted content as media.autoplay.allowscripted, to block script-initiated autoplay of media.

Re: Need a new media autoplay toggle button
Their forum has versions that work with Firefox 53. That'll do the SM 2.49ESR and after that it won't matter, as SM will follow down the FF webextensions route for sure. Assuming SM still exists after the ESR, of course.Anonymosity wrote:I need a new toolbar button to toggle media autoplay with SeaMonkey 2.49. Custom Buttons does not work with this version.

By the way, Isaac, you should contact the people at the Pale Moon site. Your extension to toggle media autoplay works fine with Pale Moon, and I am sure they would be interested in having it.

That might be a good idea. I did submit another extension there: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/integ ... ntication/Anonymosity wrote:By the way, Isaac, you should contact the people at the Pale Moon site. Not sure why I never did that with this one.
