Since the latest upgrade to Thunderbird version 52.4 I can no longer change the color in the text. It lets me selected the color but it ignores it!
It seems with every upgrade new features introduced new Bugs are being introduced as well!
It's the same problem as well when starting up in safe mode.

Re: cannot change text color
Works for me (using Format -> Text Color). Try changing the color of some text, selecting the message body and then use Insert -> HTML to view the HTML tags and verify it inserted the font color tags. For example:
abc <font color="#33cc00">def</font> ghi <font color="#cc6600">jkl <font
color="#000000">mno pqr</font></font>
has def in green and jkl in brown
abc <font color="#33cc00">def</font> ghi <font color="#cc6600">jkl <font
color="#000000">mno pqr</font></font>
has def in green and jkl in brown

Nope. No go!
Totally non functional.
Insert Html shows the code but the text color is still unchanged

Re: cannot change text color
I suggest you try using custom setup to install a beta build of Thunderbird in a different directory and see if it has the same problem. It should use the existing profile. Since you don't have this problem in safe mode, it works for me and I haven't noticed similar threads, it sounds like a very configuration specific bug.
