Firefox does not update to the latest version

Hi everyone, I already tried 3 times to update Firefox to 56.0.2 and failed. I do manual updates from About Firefox. I thought I installed, I rebooted as requested. When I came back to check there was still an old version there. I have no idea what is happening. This never happened before. And a friend of mine told me the same - he is unable to update to the latest version.
Does anyone else have this problem?? Why do I have this problem?
Any ideas how to fix it other than reinstall FF???

You can download the installer from Mozilla and just run the .exe to overwrite your old version with the new.

Check your shortcut & where FF may be installed & in how many places FF may be installed in.

As in you might have a shortcut pointing to the old version.
Yet the newer FF got installed elsewhere...

One might not expect that to happen, but you never know.

Do a search for "firefox.exe" & see if it turns up in more then one place.
(I'll assume a "Windows" search is able to do such a thing & actually return pertinent results.)

Thank you guys. I appreciate your replies. I will try to run.exe file. I guess I have no choice than overwrite current one with a new one. Therube, I will look into your advice tomorrow.=) My head is too tired right now.

Note that overwriting the program files will not overwrite your existing profile so your stored bookmarks, history, etc. will not be lost.
