Roz,
I'm really not too sure but try renaming that ##temp##...Alpha folder by placing a 0 (zero) in the front.
eg; > 0Alpha

&, I don't know if you can add browser.download.lastDir to Firefox v52.

Maybe someone can verify?

Getting a tad beyond me now.

Think I'm getting somewhere.
These two seem to have different paths ...
browser.download.lastDir;C:\Users\Roz\Public Pictures\Alphas
and
browser.open.lastDir;C:\Users\Public\Pictures\Alphas
and if I move to (say) Music in Libraries then just this one is altered to ....
browser.open.lastDir;C:\Users\Roz\Music\Noises

Is that perhaps where something is going on?

Sorry - will delete that one you aren't sure of and relabel Alpha to 0Alpha. (Hope I'm getting closer to it now with all your help)

Ah right ... I have been using the Music etc in Libraries but if I go in through this path by clicking on each stage in the left menu: Local Disc C\Users\Public to the other files (like Music) the Open File icon remembers to go back to Alphas.
Seem the answer is to avoid using the Libraries :)

Sounding like you've nailed it Roz.

Seem the answer is to avoid using the Libraries.

Who needs Libraries any more?
You've already got access to the best one in either Google or whatever search engine you choose.

Hey!
You did all the hard work.
This medium makes things so hard at times, trying to get the right message across.

Anyway, you had the desired result.

Glad to be of limited assistance, Roz.

You're a star Image
And I'm so chuffed I've finally found a way to get my little animations back off Photobucket now as they had turned them all into a horrid black message picture.

Download image/.gif from your Photobucket Library and and use another image site.....
Image
@Downloading all the Library to move pics elsewhere does not include .gifs...of which I have many.

What I do is click on the chosen pic from the album in Photobucket then copy the IMG Thumb link. All the animations I had saved in my Clippings add-on were broken so I spent some time replacing each with the IMG Thumb link and they all work again. I just use Clippings to paste the exact link and it appears as an animation again

So the IMG Thumb bit (without the spaces I added to show it) goes from this ....

to this .....
