Java cannot be run in Fx 57.

Unless you mean JavaScript?

Why do Java, Silverlight, Adobe Acrobat and other plugins no longer work? - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/npapi-plugins

Firefox Releases since 52.0 have only allowed the Flash Player Plugin from Adobe to run whether on Windows, Mac OSX, or Linux.

You can use the 32-bit Firefox 52 ESR (as mentioned in article) for Windows to use other NPAPI Plugins like the Java 8 Plugin from Oracle.
