why doesn't tb delete email as soon as i get them via rule?

Normally it wouldn't be a problem. Can you manually move a junk mail message there? If not, then I wouldn't expect a filter or junk mail control to be able to.

i did as you advise me but now i get this error in the activity


the current operation on "inbox" did not succed. the mail server for account *@ yahoo dot it resonded : [UNAVAIBLE] ID FETCH server error while fetching messages.
why?
is there a fix?

"UID Fetch Server error

This error can occur with Yahoo IMAP accounts. It seems to mainly occur when there is a problem fetching the contents of a message in the Spam, Bulk Mail or Trash folder. Deleting the folders contents, emptying the trash, and compacting the folders works around the problem." You typically don't want to do that with a inbox folder, though. IMHO Yahoo in general is a poor choice of a email provider. They have lots of temporary problems (that get fixed by an admin within a day or two) and Thunderbird seems to have lots of interoperability problems with them. I don't expect that situation to change. Yahoo being bought by Verizon doesn't help either.

maybe for yahoo it's much better use a pop3 account ?
can i change my yahoo account from imap to pop3 or should i delete and create a new one?

i have tried other email clients and they have the same issues

This tutorial will show you how to configure a new account for POP access (rather than IMAP). An existing IMAP account cannot be converted. Instructions for deleting it are at the end of this article.
