Tks FRG.... downloaded and ran it, works fine, with a couple little niggling issues. Nothing that can't be fixed.frg wrote:But unfortunately we still have a problem with the downloads and update server. ewong thought this was fixed and gave the green light:

Thanks for the heads up. Going to check out the new 64bit Linux build. And with GTK3, no less.

FYI, GTK3 in Linux doesn't look ready for use. Scrollbars do not have arrows, form elements are looking funny. Going back to 2.48 since since there are no GTK2 2.49 builds.

Re: SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released
The no scroll bar arrows and some other gtk themed issues is due to using a GTK2 theme on the OS.kmike wrote:FYI, GTK3 in Linux doesn't look ready for use. Scrollbars do not have arrows, form elements are looking funny. Going back to 2.48 since since there are no GTK2 2.49 builds.
SeaMonkey 2.49.1 requires a GTK3 theme to be used.
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/relea ... key2.49.1/
SeaMonkey now uses gtk3 on Linux. If you experience a problem because of this please file a bug and link it to Switch Linux builds to GTK3 with SeaMonkey 2.49. Pleae try another OS theme first. Some of them are buggy and cause problems with SeaMonkey, Thunderbird and Firefox.
Firefox since 46.0 has required GTK 3.4 (three.four) at minimum to run and to be themed. The SeaMonkey devs just delayed this change with GTK3 theme needed. SM 2.48 is on Gecko 51.0 while SM 2.49.1 is on Gecko 52.0 ESR.

Re: SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released
I installed 2.49.1 and now when I am in a web page and right click on a photo and select "save image:, before the save occurs, my default save location folder opens and I have to click the save box to complete the save. I Don't have the "ask me where to save" box enabled in preferences.
This used to complete automatically with the "save image" command on the right click menu.

Re: SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released
The download problem is now fixed. Unfortunately the update problem is not. This might need another round or a new build so please download the full 2.49.1 installer if you are not already prompted for an update and use a system which matches the requirements..

Confirmed.before the save occurs, my default save location folder opens and I have to click the save box to complete the save. I Don't have the "ask me where to save" box enabled in preferences.
Appears either the actual Preference is now gone ? or making the Preference change is ineffectual ?
You should file a bug.
Edit | Preferences | Browser -> Downloads => When saving a file: Save files to is not respected.
Regression from 2.48.
user_pref("browser.download.useDownloadDir", true);
Invalid: Bug 1391192 - browser.download settings seem to be completely ignored
Related ? Open File toolbar icon won't stay on file chosen? SORTED

Re: SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released
Maybe fallout from https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1331203
File a bug and set me on cc. But I am swamped with other things so don't expect a fast fix in the next 2.49.x
This one fixes more than it eventually breaks so I won't back it out

Re: SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released
Yeah, there are still various issues with GTK3, but nevertheless GTK2 is no longer officially supported by the Mozilla Core code, so it's a trade-off which one might expose more bugs...kmike wrote:FYI, GTK3 in Linux doesn't look ready for use. It will have to be seen which GTK version the individual distros will use. For example, OpenSUSE still builds Firefox 52.x with GTK2 and might do the same for their SeaMonkey RPMs.

Re: SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released
I'm using XFCE which is yet to transition to GTK3, so there are some theming issues. I'm not sure what is responsible - Seamonkey or poor GTK3/GTK2 theme support.
