Unsigned Extensions Hack - Bypass Firefox's Add-on Signing Check

Just to point out that by using the hack, some FF extensions report as "corrupt" when you try to install them.

The add-on downloaded from this site could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt.

FF 56.0.2 x64

With the hack installed, so the files; instalDir/mozilla.cfg & instalDir/defaults/pref/autoconfig.js, as it is, the following extensions report as "corrupt" when you try to install them.

> https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... -download/
> https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addo ... ader_webx/

Now plenty of extensions do install successfully.
Why those two particular extensions don't, can't say?
Is it the particular contents of those two ("hack") files, don't know?
Expected behavior, or a bug, don't know?

STR:

Install the signing "hack".
Try to install above extensions.

I got the same error for both extensions.

Hack: viewtopic.php?p=14755881#p14755881

These extensions are Fx 57 compatible.

Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express is a simple content_scripts extension.

YouTube Video and Audio Downloader is a nativeMessaging extension using NodeJS.

Open in VLC media player is a nativeMessaging extension using NodeJS.

No problem installing the last extension.

The first does not have an addon id.
The second does not have an addon id.
The third has an addon id.

When using the by-pass hack, if you run into difficulty installing an add-on and get this corrupt warning:

Image

You will need to temporarily remove the config-prefs.js or autoconfig.js files to be able to install some add-ons (remove them with FX closed). Once the add-on is installed, put the file back to continue using the add-ons.
