Kill )(*#%) newtab.club
This odious creep is really getting to me. I have tried various spy checkers so far with no luck. I have tried the add-on for FF that is supposed to kill newtab.club...but newtab has taken over FF completely, so I can't even access tools to look at add-ons. I can't set preferences..it all comes back to newtab.
It seems that newtab has been continually developed to overcome any way to get rid of it, certainly at browser level (my Internet Exploror has it as well).
Anyone....please????

Re: Kill )(*#%) newtab.club
Please provide some specifics about "newtab.club" - WhateverTF that is.
Just to be sure you're not referring to Firefox 57, which is in Beta now, are you?
Whatever complaints you have now with Firefox 56 might be - Firefox 57 is sure to piss you off with the coming changes to the NewTab page.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

Thanks for the reply.
My gripe is not with FF.
What? NObody has heard of newtab.club. It's a hijacker that sit mon top of your browser and seriously mucks you around. It 'asses all your seraches through its keeper, and then of course can use them. To do this, it evolves to stop any attempts to remove it from within your browser, as I described.
AS usual it will be installed by some application you install, claiming to help you.
I ave now dld zemana malware hunter and it has at least flagged the nasty little crawler. I have yet to see if it will remove it....without my having to pay If it does, I will probably buy it as a resident caretaker.

Nope, never heard of it.

OK. I did the brutal thing and just created a new profile. I could not be bothered going through less final things, only to have to try again.
I had already run a "cleaner" app and that found and "removed" newtab.club. But while it had disappeared from IE, it still popped up in FF if I tried anything like add-ons or options etc. It would use my chosen home page, but attempts at searches would just sit there saying "waiting for yahoo search".
I am not sure how the profile came into this, but I wonder if the search was locking up because FF still "thought" that it was redirecting to yahoo via newtab.club, only newtab did not exist any more...whatever.
What a painful, nasty, wasteful piece of work.

Looks like the cleaner you used is lazy. Did you run MalwareBytes Ant-Malware and adwcleaner on your entire computer? And try running BitDefender AntiRansomware and MalwareBytes AntiExploit in the background.
Most changes are made in your profile folder, not in the program files folder.

hhmmm...so basically run a grab-bag, in the hope of catching something.
Having tried 3 different ones, I just created a new profile. I wanted rid of that excressence. I will try to remember if I get this again. Luckily, most of my crawlers and so on seem to be an "acceptable onfestation" sort of thinig.

It's not a grab-bag. They 're programs that have proven themselves with millions of users. The last 2 are preventive
