i dont know why its doing this, been like this for a long while
I recall this happening with the activity stream extension which was a part of Test Pilot. Do you have something like that installed as an extension in Firefox? Look in Tools -> Addons, Extensions for something called activity stream or test pilot and disable or remove them, then restart Firefox.

If you don't have any of those installed, list all extensions you do have.

Speaking for myself :
Other than to do what I asked you to do in my first post (check your extensions) : I'm sorry - in the thread on the Mozilla support forum Scribe also asked you about an extension ......
(I assusme that OP is you, even though the display name is slightly different ...... ? )

to make it short

provide some information please (text, not raw)
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/us ... ix-firefox

only do as it is written in that article, nothing else. click the button (copy) and paste it here.

it should be not hard for you. if you struggle here it would be better to grab a technician at your place or leave firefox untouched.

concernign those numbers - as explained mozilla changed it instead plain text, you never find it in the (regular) extension list.

on the extension page - click the wheel -> "Debug addons" that will open a new page where the internal UUID is shown.
https://developer.mozilla.org/de/Add-on ... /Debugging

enter about:debugging

If you restart in Safe Mode, then open a new tab, do you still get the moz-extension... ?

There, so now you just need to figure out which extension you are using is causing it.

Another forum is not our problem and cross posting to it only makes things more difficult for everyone. Not that an uncooperative OP who frankly has not done one thing he has been asked is making things easy

As the OP hasn't posted here anymore, maybe some wise moderator would put us out of our misery and lock this thread ?

For now this can just sit idle in case the OP posts back with a better, more responsive attitude.

therube wrote:Does (some scrambled numbers letters) correspond to any extensions (shown in Addons Manager)?
That answer appears to be, no.

Example: moz-extension://ada460f6-56bd-4819-b146-afcd4eebd5c1/abouttabs.html

Where is does show up is in the Pref, extensions.webextensions.uuids.
So you have to look in about:config rather then Addons Manager.

As the OP hasn't replied to neither any posts here nor on the Mozilla support forum lately - I'm hereby addressing anybody else who might have the same problem / question:

The New Tab Tools addon (which is more than likely what we're dealing with) has been updated just a few hours ago :

Seeing as you may have missed a couple of suggestions to use the extension linked to...

Try this > https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... -override/

&, Please read the section on > "About this extension."
It explains heaps.

Oh yes. There's one question by "Anonymous user e010a8", in the Reviews section here...
> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... e/reviews/
Thanks I am now able to show my bookmarks file when a new tab opens.
Only problem is that the field is filled with "moz-extension........"
Any way to clear this field after a new tab is created?
The Developers response...
No. As you can read in the add-on's settings page it's not possible for WebExtensions.
