For the last 2 days or so, links in incoming emails no longer have opened in the one browser window that's open, but now open in a new browser window. Since I always want just 1 browser window open, I then have to merge the two windows.
I use TMP and I've checked the pertinent settings, which are unchanged. The active tab is never frozen or protected. I've restarted both the browser and the system, cleared my cache, and have even initiated Windows's System Restore.
What can I do to restore my preference?

Copy/paste into the location bar and hit Enter: about:preferences#general
In the Tabs section checkmark the option: "Open new windows in a new tab instead"

Thanks, Reflective, but that option is not available to me. Remember, I use Tab Mix Plus. As I mentioned, I've checked my TMP settings, and as far as I can see those are all unchanged.

Thanks, Brummelchen.
Before implementing Brummelchen's suggestion, just as suddenly, the reported problem is *gone*. I have no idea of why it's gone any more than I have of why it started--I did nothing.
