Trouble sending email via Verizon

I found this site by googling that 'login to server failed.' I had been stopped from sending emails. I followed the instructions you gave in 2016 -tools to options to security to passwords I deleted saved passwords. I restarted Thunderbird. Next time I "got mail" it didn't ask for my password. Neither could I figure out how to create a new password.
So, I am lost. How do I create a new password? Will that then allow me to send emails?

Probably not necessary to say I am not a whiz at this computer/email world. And my kids live too far away to help.

I split your post from its original location as the problem the OP was dealing with there was quite different from yours.

How do I create a new password? Will that then allow me to send emails?

What error message are you getting now when trying to send a message using the Verizon account?
What settings do you have for the outgoing server for that account? Check under TB menu path Tools->Account Settings->Outgoing Server (SMTP).
