How do I permanently disable add-on checking in FX52esr?

I have set add-on checks to Update Manually

I have set AdBlock Plus and Stylish to Off (I don't want the WebExtension versions)

When I choose to check for add-ons manually, AdBlock Plus and Stylish still show up as needing updated (although they both are set to OFF)

Thanks, ElTxolo, but that KB article must be out of date. I added the about:config entries, but FX still announced that there were updates available.

Automatic Updates: Default On Off

That's the option for applyBackgroundUpdates in the extensions.json file.

You selected "off" for apply background updates, not "off" for finding updates. The check for updates command finds updates even if you don't want automatic updates.

You are correct. From what I've been reading, you can't turn off the "checking". I've disabled automatic updates, so I'll just have to ignore the "Updates Available" prompt and be careful not to install updates to AdBlock Plus and Stylish.
