I'm not surprised that WebRender got delayed. Its still rough around the edges.

Well it's a huge project. I've never expected WR to be ready for 59 release. It was too optimistic from the beginning. Version 60 was and is the first relevant target for the prime time. And can be further delayed to 61.

there will be other projects that wont make a release, WR was one of them , i just think they need to focus on getting the more important stuff in firefox at a stable point like the WE API

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce that, though I have seen something similar on a few other sites - Facebook and twitter to name two. There is something odd going on but so far I've failed to actually pin it down. :(

Do you have display-list retain enabled ? I turned it off and CPU has gone down here. Also FoxNews seems to be using 4-6% at times, they have a small video playing on page that has no controls and I've found no way to stop it yet.

Indeed I do and I was quite aware that it would be the underlying source of the issue... I meant that I had failed to generate a reduced testcase to demonstrate it. It's proving to be quite a tricky little problem to pin down.

Thanks for the tip all the same :)

I've just reproduced this bug, left a comment on bugzilla. Also, something similar can be reproduced on other sites as well:

I dont think so. I can only repro my bug with retain-dl enabled.

¡Hola!

Does anyone else see text flashing while composing a Twitter reply with gfx.webrender.enabled;true and layout.display-list.retain;true?

Known bug?

¡Gracias!
Alex
