i read same in german, eyes are most receptiv for red, avoid blue. less colours, best is a b/w only monitor. none wrote of dark background ;)

windows 10 has a night mode, colours a sliding into red (user settings how much)
"Iris mini/pro" can do that for other windows.

I love it when people with no artistic ability start feeling uneasy and out of their depth on threads like these and immediately try to turn them into geeky tech threads, where they feel more in control again.

I think you'll find that artists know a damn sight more about how light works than you do and more about human psychology, come to that.

This is one thread amongst thousands, leave them alone to harmlessly show their Firefox or desktop or whatever else they want and the world will still keep turning. Meantime, just stop fretting and go and collect some train engine numbers or something.

Nice to see people who claimed that they were washing their hands off of Firefox still helping other :)

Well, it's a bit more than a claim when on a personal level I have been using SeaMonkey 24/7 for the last 3 years?

Don't forget, I have 2 themes out for Thunderbird and I don't use that either, I personally use the SM Email client.

I also reckon archaeologists don't go to bed in the holes that they were digging in the day.

ah Frank, i see - no, i am no artist, no graphic designer or anything else. but i wont deny such news articles when they claim the same. anyhow when eyes are having trouble to read small characters - anytime it is best to zoom text instead raising contrast. some colors can assist this setting but colors alone are no solution. and yes, i wear special glasses for my computer work and i use zoom.

nevertheless i already did a research for other concerning "dark mode" extensions but fail, not really usable.
best result was this one when chosen the right theme

@Luna, that actually looks pretty decent.
And so what, on a Mac, you don't have close, minimize, restore buttons?
And is the menu bar "disjointed" from the browser, so is that your desktop that shows in between?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

:) Thank you, I'd spent some time today digging into userchrome to adjust things... pretty happy with it now. Softer more rounded tabs, colours matching my current desktop look, and stuff I don't need hidden. I added the Art Up Your Tab addon for the new tab / start page since I don't really like speed dial, so that gives a random piece of art each time I open a tab... more interesting than the blank tab I used to use. :)

On Macs the close, minimize and full screen buttons are on the left, it's the 3 grey dots there, and our menus are at the top in the 'finder bar'. Whichever app we have in focus has their menu's up there. My Firefox window wasn't pushed right up to the top so my wallpaper is peeking through slightly which is the gap you saw.

My old eyes need contrast and zoom.

I've been reading many threads here. The UI can be improved with extensions and css code.

I do use a few extensions. I have replaced or removed incompatible ones with new/updated ones. For the UI I have found that using Customize plus just the Simple Close Button and the Undo Close Button extensions I am currently quite satisfied with what I have.

Looks great. How did you move close, minimize and restore buttons to the navigation bar? Also, how did you hide the title bar? =D>

Windows buttons (using userChromeJS):
https://github.com/ardiman/userChrome.j ... losebutton

Or you can use an extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... he-window/

To hide titlebar (using Stylish or userChrome.css):

Code: Select all

#titlebar { display: none !important; }
