Master Password

Post by dave736 »

I am using Thunderbird v52.4 (in Linux). I just started it up for the first time today. With an old version that I used to use in windows, I used the master password to store my passwords so I did not have to retype them every 15 minutes. Every time I started Thunderbird, I did not have to enter the master password. The version I have now makes me enter the master password upon starting Thunderbird. Is there any way to disable this? I am the only one using this computer and hate to have to enter the master password every time.

Thanks,
Dave

On the old Windows machine you were not using a master password, just using the built in password manager to store the password for each account. What you want now is to disable/remove the master password. See this article -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_passwo ... r_password
The menu path under Linux is Edit → Preferences->Security -> Passwords -> Change Master Password
