Missing the new tab => homepage option
I have not been able to get any of the New Tab extensions to take me to my homepage (it's a local file and that may have something to do with the problem). I 'm running FF 58 Beta and that may be an issue as well but I do miss the ability to choose it via pref. At any rate, I came up with a usable workaround for the problem. My solution was to remove the New Tab (+) button. Now, if I want a new tab, I middle-click on the Home button and that gives me exactly what I want.

WebExtensions don't have file system access, therefore you wont be able to load the file without either importing it into an extension (e.g. New Tab Override) or hosting the file locally and loading via e.g. a `localhost` URL.

I think that I tried that extension but the local file load didn't work properly. It would load the base HTML file but the objects called by the HTML file wouldn't load. I think that a better approach might be to create an addon that adds a new tab button that's a clone of the Home button with middle-click.johnp_ wrote:WebExtensions don't have file system access, therefore you wont be able to load the file without either importing it into an extension (e.g. New Tab Override) or hosting the file locally and loading via e.g. a `localhost` URL.

Re: Missing the new tab => homepage option
It looks like it works but wouldn't changing the new tab button to New Tab Homepage be easier? At any rate, it works for me without an extension and saves some space too.

Re: Missing the new tab => homepage option
I found that I missed the home button where it was and do like the + button so I created a bookmarklet, added it to the tool bar with the name "+" and it creates a new tab with my homepage on it. It would be perfect if it were next to the tabs but I don't think that I can do that so it's on the right side of the tabs bar. Good enough I think.
