IMAP not downloading after Windows 10 reset.

Post by ToddMoz »

IMAP not downloading after Windows 10 reset.

Connects to the SMTP server and sends fine (but does not put sent item into Sent folder).
Says "Connected to imap.zoho.com" but no download occurs.
"Activity Manger" has nothing.

I reset Windows 10, then created a new Thunderbird profile to point to my message store. Tbird finds everything okay, but now IMAP will not synchronize the account. Re-enter IMAP credentials, but still does not want to download new messages into inbox.

Any known issues?
Anything I should do differently?

Thanks,

Todd

Check your account settings against the documentation at https://www.zoho.com/mail/help/thunderb ... ccess.html . The most likely reason for your problem is slightly wrong settings. The optional ACL extension it talks about is at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... on/?src=ss . Unless you are sharing your mail folders with other users you don't need it.

Do you have any other accounts than the zoho account? Do they work okay?

If you are able to send messages I suspect your firewall settings are not an issue. Try deleting the (probably perfectly good) stored username/password using tools -> options -> security -> passwords -> saved passwords, exiting (since the deleted passwords are still in memory) and restarting. That will workaround any bugs that you might run into if you got a hard connection failure. If that doesn't help log into webmail using a browser to verify your zoho username/password is still valid etc. That will also clear a captcha if one was set.

When you reset Windows did you tell it keep existing applications, and use the same windows username as before? If you did that should not have trashed your old profile or the profiles.ini file that Thunderbird looks in to find your profile. I'm using version 1709 of Windows 10 x64 (run winver to see what version you have). I didn't lose anything when I told it to upgrade.

Thanks for the fast response.

Windows 10 reset was total; however, my email is stored on a different / separate drive. So just reinstalled Thunderbird and created a new profile to point to existing email folder.

Already did the clearing of the passwords in the security options.

Yes, other Zoho account, but also does NOT connect with IMAP.

Passwords are correct as login fine via web.

Zoho setup link shows same information as I have set.

* I forgot to note that I am unable to get any folders to appear in the "File, Subscribe" box.

Thanks,

Todd

Think about using http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_p ... hunderbird to tell Thunderbird to use your old profile. Perhaps it doesn't have this problem. You could use the profile manager to switch between the two profiles, as needed. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

I added a Zoho IMAP account using the default settings from the Mozilla ISP database. It works fine on my system.

I have deleted the account and started over; however, I am not prompted for a password. I have deleted passwords from the Options, Security, Passwords list.

Deleted key3.db and logins.json.

Never prompted for a password when I "get messages". Does not build folder list.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Files_and_fol ... hunderbird

key3.db is a key database that works together with cert8.db (Security certificates). If you delete one you should delete the other. logins.json requires both of those files. I suggest you delete all three and try again. Think of them as a set.

If none of this helps I suggest you sign up for a throwaway account with outlook.com or gmail and see if you have the same problem with it. That might help narrow down whats causing your problems. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Gmail

You said you were able to send a message fine, though it did not save a copy. Did you verify that somebody actually received the sent message?
