How to delete all attachments from multiple messages?

Post by Asperamanca »

I have a lot of messages with large attachments. I want to keep the messages, but remove the attachments from selected messages.
The current workflow is very tedious: Select the message, right-click on attachments, Delete all..., confirm. For dozens if not hundreds of messages.

Is there a simpler way?

I found this post, but it makes use of an add-on that is no longer compatible with my version of Thunderbird (52.5.0)

It might be possible to do that via a message filter, if you install the FiltaQuilla add-on. It adds a "save attachments to" and a "delete attachments to" action. Note the comment on the add-ons web page about editing the manifest file to work around the version limit.

The latest version of FiltaQuilla does not seem to have action "delete attachments to".

I don't think there ever was a "Delete Attachments" filter action.

Try using the "Detach Attachments To" filter action.

Tools > Addon Options > FiltaQuilla > Filter Actions > [check] Detach Attachments To
