This is why I'm nost using Firefox
It used to be my no 1 browser up until two years ago.
This is the main reason why I no longer use it:

Left is FireFox, right is Chrome.
I tried changing themes, forcing page colors, setting font colors in Preferenfces/General/Font/Colors.
It either does not work, or makes the whole web page look rubbish (dark gray background, white letters).
Why can FF just do it like Chrome?

Yup. Just wanted to check if Quantum removed the issue. It didn't.malliz wrote:And yet you are still using it to post herepanzorjack wrote: This is the main reason why I no longer use it:

What is it you are complaining about? Even with your screenshot it is not clear.

The color of font in the input boxes.
Also, the color of fonts in the text of some web pages is gray on white, instead of black on white (like in Chrome), and as a result it is hard to read.

Well, don't use the dark default theme then! That's the only one that does that. Jeeze.panzorjack wrote:The color of font in the input boxes.
Just use a dark one of these - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... rc=firefox and the urlbar and searchbar will have a light background and dark text. So much for this 'I tried changing themes' stuff of yours.
Sort the webpages out yourself, you're wasting my time.

Re: This is why I'm nost using Firefox
Changing Firefox themes have no influence on the font color in input boxes, as evidenced here: https://i.imgur.com/JvuiFy1.png
If it did, there would be no problem.
Plus, the internal FF's input boxes are messed up regardless, as seen here: https://i.imgur.com/8e3x2Qm.png
Weird design choice to use light fonts for light backgrounds and dark fonts for dark backgrounds. Of all the 6 browsers I have installed, only Firefox demonstrates this behaviour and has been since years.
So you want to try again, or are you just about wasting time?

FF57 in the default mode has always shown black letters on the white background as shown here
I have no idea what your are doing to screw up the URL box but it certainly isn't the default.

firefox at first is web page settings, then obeying operating system colors!

I just used my basic Portable Firefox profile... visited Youtube and that search field displayed dart/black...
You might want to restart Firefox in safe-mode to see if the same thing happens...
Try running Firefox in safe-mode... NOTE: This is a testing procedure only ... NOT for normal browsing.
-- On the menu bar, click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled....
Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog. Click continue in Safe Mode and don't check any items.
Note: You can also start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while Single/Double clicking on the icon.
* (option key while starting Firefox on Mac).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>What safe-mode does ..... Safe Mode temporarily affects the following:
* All extensions are disabled. --- * The userChrome.css and userContent.css files are ignored.
* The default theme is used, without a persona. --- * The default toolbar layout is used.
* The Just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compiler is disabled. --- * Hardware acceleration is disabled.
-- Safe Mode has no effect on the following --
* The status of plugins is not affected.
* Custom preferences are not affected.
