You Have Been Banned Forum Message

Post by Wiggam72 »

This is finally starting to annoy me after 4 years of participating in this forum. About 10% of the time I get the message:

You have been banned from this board until May 30th, 2018, 10:00 pm.

If you believe this is an error, please try closing your browser and clearing your cache.

If you still have an issue, and believe it's an error, put the word "anything" in the Search Boards text box and click on GO. Click on any result and then click on Board Index. The problem should go away.

A ban has been issued on your IP address.

Why does this happen?!! Is there something wrong with MY browser why it happens so often? My browser is set to delete the cache after the browser is closed and most times I visit this forum, my browser is closed beforehand. Most times closing and opening the browser a few times works, and other times I have to enter "anything" into the search.

It's a glitch in the forum software and it ain't going to stop anytime soon. We all get it.

4 years, are you kidding me? How does something that not get fixed? I wonder how many new members never bothered to return again? I'm sure it's in the 1000s.

Happened to me several times while responding in my last thread, had to keep renewing my bookmark.

Software glitch on a tech support forum is a bit ironic. Raises doubt as to the technical skills of the forum leaders. #-o

Feel free to raise your doubts with the forum leader who, these days, works for Google Chrome.

Regular members here realise that we are lucky these forums still exist.

Do the terms "intermittent" and "not readily reproducible" ring a bell?

Why not just tell Frank Lion "It is what it is" or some other inane comment...

Um, if you were referring to my reply, skeezix, it was direct to dolphins, not to Frank, with whom I agree on this subject.

@Frank Lion, @DanRaisch -

I was addressing my reply to Frank's comment to Wiggam72 (the OP), but as I reread my reply I can see where I was being a complete ass, and for that I have no excuse. :( I would like to apologize to Frank for the comment and hope he will overlook it.

Same thing happens to me when try to enter the forum via a VPN with the server at a Russian address. Only way round it is to quit the VPN and connect via normal address.

Personally, I think there should be an account setting where the user can "tick" that they use a VPN(s) (and hence not get the "banned" messages).
