Where do I find Browser Local Storage please? = SORTED

Post by madmudmob »

Just installed the add-on Link Visitor ....
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... visitor-5/

It tells me that .....
Preferences are stored in the Browser Local Storage and can be changed there.

Followed by ....
Unless the Browser Synch Storage is enabled for web extensions.
To enable Browser Sync Storage set webextensions.storage.sync.enabled to True in About:Config.

I have Stylish Sync installed so followed those instructions but no difference - still can't find Browser Local Storage.

I haven't a clue how to find this so an hoping one of you fine folk can point me in the right direction.

Why do you need to find it? You should be able to change the preferences from the options button in the add-on manager.

I think what they are trying to convey is, unless you explicitly change the setting webextensions.storage.sync.enabled to true, if you have Firefox Sync setup, you will not be syncing the preferences of the add-on across computers, i.e., each installation will have its own preferences to manage.

I clicked on the Options button for that add-on on the main add-on page but it took me straight to the explanation the same as it would have if I had clicked on More next to the add-ons name in the main list.

Scroll down. The options are below that wall of text.

It's probable that one of the what looks to be many customizations you have going on there is causing the problem.

Tried Safe Mode but no help.

Thankyou for trying to help, guess I'll give in on this one.
Do you perhaps know of any other add-on that can mark a visited link as unviewed? By that I mean change the link from the viewed colour to the unviewed colour on the page.

Hi MMM,
I just did a quick check of the User Styles but did not find anything that will revert the visited links as such.

Only a couple that change the visited links in various ways.

One for choosing a Custom colour...
> https://userstyles.org/styles/142585/vi ... stom-color

Someone may/will know if it's possible.

Just a little follow up...
To change the default colour of RED, open the advanced section button & click the colour selector.
Once selected, install the code.

If you want to change it any time, I think you have to un-install it, change the colour & re-install it.

Not sure if you can change the colour code in the style though.....Might be able but...
Maybe try it?

ps. This works in v57.
I have a few other styles for my v20.

Of course not. Safe mode would have also disabled the extension you were trying to change the options for.

If you are using Stylish to do your customizations, disable it and restart. If you are using userChrome.css, close Fx, rename the userChrome.css file so it doesn't get used, and then restart Fx.

It could also be that the extension needs something that is not available in Fx 52 ESR and that's why it doesn't work.

read comments - buggy for v56 (and maybe older)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... visitor-5/

local storage is not available within firefox for you. (storage.js)

and again - stay with legacy extensions on firefox 52!
