Not sure if this is the right channel to post in for Firefox Beta support, but I am having issues with Firefox 58 where videos play but do not play sound. Launching Firefox in Safe Mode does not work, and restarting the PC does not work as well.
I wonder if anyone using the same build encountered the same issue. I'd appreciate any fixes. I am on Windows 10 Insider build 17063. Thanks! ![]() Moved to Firefox Builds forum.
I'm encountering this issue as well.. and I think it may be more of a Windows 10 issues than a Firefox one (or combination)
What I've noticed is, anything HTML5 doesn't play audio. But Flash does. Example: You can watch any streamer on Twitch, and if you have it on HTML5, there wll be no audio. But if you swap the player to Flash, then there's sound. With YouTube they've swapped to HTML5 by default so no videos will play sound. I've tested a few extensions that force Flash Player, but no luck having it work for me. I am using Windows Insider Program (Active development of Windows / Fast) and the last update gave me this issue. I've tested Firefox (Stable/Beta/Dev) on this system and older FF versions with no luck. But using the same flashdrive (I use portable FF) and testing on other Win 10 machines here at work, plays sounds with no issues. But thos esystems aren't using the Windows Insider Program. So guessing the Windows Insider Program update fudged something up with the HTML5 player within FF. Since they will work no issue on Chrome/ Microsoft Edge. Known issue with insider build 17063.

Actually there is a possibility of a fix from the Mozilla team

A working patch yes but is it really the best thing when recent Win10 insider preview builds was the cause of the sound issues in Firefox and other applications. let me get this correct if i am, if i run 58b12 now without the insider Preview i wont have any issues?
The issue should not effect you unless you are using the latest Win 10 fast ring build 17063.1000 and the problem is it is a pre release build for the next Win 10 update cycle

A working patch for Firefox until Microsoft researches this, writes the code patch for Win 10, tests it so that the whole world does not go 'poof', which could take months, and then Mozilla can pull the patch? Sounds good to me. ![]()
ok thanks , i'll go ahead an install from Bug 1426719 comment #38
