Seamonkey slow to load home page at start up
I have SM 2.49.1 and this problem showed up about a week or so after upgrading but I don't think it has anything to do with 2.49.1 at least not yet. I have 2 other PC with 2.49.1 on them and they work just fine so kind of puzzled by this.
Anyway, when I start SM it takes about 25 seconds for the home page to load. Home page is google. I tried another home page such as duckduckgo but have the same issue. Once the home page is loaded everything works as it should and nice and fast until I close SM and restart. Running win7 on all machines. SM is configured similarly on all 3 machines.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

What are you connection ("proxy") settings?
IOW are you using a proxy? Or using Direct Connect or System Settings?

Fire 750, bring back 250.

no change with safe mode however, definitely is profile dependent. There are 4 profiles. 2 have the slowness issue, the other 2 don't. those unaffected profiles I don't use often so are pretty much "stock" configuration, no add-ons or extensions, etc.
The only add-on of the effected profiles is the Menu Wizard but removing the Menu Wizard did not change the slowness of those 2 profiles.
This is pretty much a fresh clean install of everything including OS on the PC from about a month ago but only started this slowness thing recently.
therube,
no proxy.
Thanks guys for the quick response.

Re: Seamonkey slow to load home page at start up
In that case I'm stumped. Clearly it's not Firefox itself and it's not security software because that wouldn't recognize differences in profiles. There's something in those two profiles but it's not something changed in Safe Mode. All I can think of is to create new profiles and migrate passwords, bookmarks, etc from the old to the new.

Yeah, I think that option is what I have been thinking of doing. Might try a complete uninstall and reinstall and see what happens too. Thanks for trying.

SQLite seems not to be compatible with 2.49.1

FWIW, IE loads OK.
I think I will just create 2 new profiles and see what happens.

Problem solved. Created a new profile and transferred everything from old profile one at a time and tested each to see if problem would follow. It did not so I'm good at this point. took about 20 minutes to transfer everything.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Oh well. It was good while it lasted. Back to the same problem.

Is that again with just the one profile of several on one computer?
