Replacement for Password Exporter extension

Post by Olhanzilla »

I just got auto-updated to FF 57 Quantum even though I had auto updates turned off.

I use the Password Exporter extension extensively and now it is "legacy." I have no idea if the author is going to redo it to be compatible with the "latest, greatest, bleeding edge" FF and can't find a way to ask him.

Don't tell me to backup the FF profile or the logins.json and key3.db files - that does not do what I need done.

I want to be able to export all passwords to a file (don't care about the type or internal format) and then import the passwords from that file into FF either on another system or another profile on the same system.

Copying just the logins.json and key3.db files doesn't cut it because I need the imported passwords to be merged with the existing passwords on the other system or profile.

Password Exporter did the job just as I needed.

Does anyone know of a way to export and import passwords as I described above?

---- EDIT ---

Baring a new extension or standalone program to do as described above, can anyone give me the internal format of the files in question so that I can write something to do this myself?

Thanks for the reply.

So, the kind folks at Mozilla make more changes - apparently just because the can - and we the users suffer.

Any idea when they will have the APIs needed to manipulate passwords available?
