so ASAP update operating system, drivers, software & firmware.

Microsoft claimed that the Windows patches were ready. I have yet to receive them.

Today's Nightly build has rendered the clear recent history function inoperable. Step back one build and it works fine.

Ditto. Maybe they are waiting for patch Tuesday? Seems to be idiotic but who knows...
Cheers!

I had a Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit) monthly roll-up bundle last night. I hope the fix was in that.

I also noticed Firefox Release (to 57.0.4), Beta (to 58.0b14), and Developer (to 58.0b14) point updates were installed on my system yesterday.

Edited to add:

No. Looking up KB4056894 ("2018-01 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems"), it looks like it addresses a different software bug related to some antivirus packages.

It looks like I'll have to wait until Tuesday after all.

I guess you mean Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:59.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/59.0 ID:20180105100137. I haven't updated on Windows yet.

I tried clearing some Last Hour history and the OK button doesn't work.

Looks like you need to file a bug report at Bugzilla

The Microsoft update for Windows 10 went out two days ago. It was supposed to be applied at 17:00 Eastern time Wednesday (and was for at least some systems).

From The Verge:

The update will also be available for older and supported versions of Windows today, but systems running operating systems like Windows 7 or Windows 8 won’t automatically be updated through Windows Update until next Tuesday. Windows 10 will be automatically updated today.

If you anti-virus don't update and set the registry value, which also including outdated Windows Defender, they will stop the patch getting installed.

You can choose uninstall the Antivirus and get it set by latest Windows Defender update, or set it yourself.
Due to an issue with some versions of Anti-Virus software, this fix is only being made applicable to the machines where the Anti virus ISV has updated the ALLOW REGKEY.
