From The Verge:

The update will also be available for older and supported versions of Windows today, but systems running operating systems like Windows 7 or Windows 8 won’t automatically be updated through Windows Update until next Tuesday. Windows 10 will be automatically updated today.

It's also available for Windows 7 on Windows Update
or at least for me - https://i.imgur.com/LAnuVWP.png, even if I installed only "Security-only update"),
so The Verge is wrong.

Tired of constant Firefox UI changes? XUL extensions are not working anymore? Try SeaMonkey, Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon.

You can choose uninstall the Antivirus and get it set by latest Windows Defender update, or set it yourself.
Oh that is annoying. My AV says they're updating next week.

Isn't the current Microsoft "patch" nothing more than a simple registry entry ? AFAIK They're still looking how they could somewhat fix it in the OS, but that doesn't take away that anything you run on it has to include precautions also. Wondering how much this all is bringing water to the sea. Fixing hardware bugs with software patches never really fixes anything.

No, that registry entry is set by antivirus, telling the Windows Update that your anti-virus is compatible with latest system call update or whatever they are hooking into.
This is to prevent some antivirus like Kaspersky that likely cause BSoD when a Windows patch come out, so it stop their computer getting updated and facing BSoD after patched.

Anyways, this patch fix/workaround the Meltdown bug using something similar like Kernel Page Table Isolation (KPTI) on Linux, which is for Intel, and it will be fixed on the hardware without performance hit on next gen Intel CPU, like you wish.
And also mitigate for Spectre bug on Microsoft Edge/IE 11, which is for all processor with OoO(Out-of-order execution), unsure on this one, but this still can be exploit on your computer, just the Intel CPU is more easier than AMD/ARM, only migration done on the browser side, I hope this can be solved on the system and the hardware side later on... #-o

Those are old instructions.

In about:config:

set “gfx.webrender.enabled” to true,
set “gfx.webrender.blob-images” to true,
set “image.mem.shared” to true,
if you are on Linux, set “layers.acceleration.force-enabled” to true.

Have they changed the default font on bugzilla? For the last couple of days, fonts look wonky on bugzilla.

Now, preferences system are completely broken due to Bug 1379338.
I think that using Nightly.is not secure now.

Doesn't appear its activated, still false here - What landed was a fix to prevent it from being 'disabled' in bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1397426 <- Make tab browser warming API not set the docshell to be active

BTW: Nightly is out cset: https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/ ... 23a264ae31

I can confirm this,
fonts looks kinda odd, like overbolded,
it's very visible in bug list.

Do you have WR enabled. I've always noticed this when I enabled WR. Wikipedia is a good example. Texts looks like it is bold.
