Audio announcement of new mail

Post by Terry/WB4FXD »

I am using a wav file to sound off when mail arrives for any account I'm using. Is there a way to use specific wav files for specific emails.

For example: play wav A for my wife and wav B for my kids?

Thanks -- T

Many thanks for aiming me to the sites. However, Win 7 throws up a window saying it can't be opened. Hmmm.

Any ideas?

Saying what can't be opened? Those pages or the recommended extensions?

This is what I did.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... onequilla/
Download Now
ToneQuilla is now in the Download folder
Clicked "Open"
"Windows can't open this file ... Windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it... "
File Name: tonequilla-1.1.1-tb-+sm.xpi

And that's as far as it gets.

To install a Thunderbird extension do the following:
Right click the download link on the extension's home page and choose "Save Link As...". Then, in Thunderbird, go to Tools->Addons->Extensions tab->click on the "Gear" icon and select "Install Add-on from File" from the drop down list. Navigate to the just downloaded .xpi file and select it. Click on the "Open" button. The installation will now begin. You will need to close and reopen Thunderbird to complete the install.

Are you right clicking on the "Download now" button on that add-ons page?

I can download the .xpi file using the "Save target as" context menu item with Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 7.

Dan - I hope this is going to you.

Your last post did the trick. I would never had figured that out. Many thanks to you and all the other guys that are newbies to this software.

Cheers and Happy New Year - T
