WebRender is working great for me with the single perf. So far nothing jumping out as seriously broken (compared to the flickering mess I've been seeing the last few weeks) besides a long pause at the start of the session during which the whole window is white

There aren't any sites that have the flashing red thingy going on for you? Do you have 'gfx.webrender.force-angle = false'? That gets rid of the flashing but it screws up some other sites in a different way.winapp2 wrote:WebRender is working great for me with the single perf. force-angle = true
Maybe I'm just having an unusually stable day. I did recently update my graphics drivers...

Re: The first official 20180111 builds are not yet out
The claim for the white screen is that Webrender has to compile shaders before its initialized. They want to fix that with precompiled or cached shaders.winapp2 wrote:WebRender is working great for me with the single perf. I'm not sure when the temp-{..} folders first appeared, but I've seen them there for a while now.

Re: The first official 20180111 builds are not yet out
Thanks Alice0775, streetwolf, winapp2.
The developer found it to be a condition triggered by font selectors which missed current automated tests; patch landed, maybe in today's first Nightly.
Not really. As Alice0775 said in the bug it's (even more) fallout from bug 1379338 solved one week ago; since it hasn't been reopened/backed out I guess this was kind of expected.winapp2 wrote:

I think they have to, that's why opening the adress bar pulldown etc. is much faster already. I guess the shader cache for startup is more difficult to implement.winapp2 wrote:aren't they doing that already? I have this folder on my machine

Can you confirm smudged fonts with WebRender on this site?
https://www.e-reader-forum.de/
Edit:
And I'm getting permaspinners with WebRender now.

What... in the world is wrong with the latest nightly and WebRender enabled? I'm seeing flashing, all sorts of odd visual artifices... is anyone else seeing this?
Cheers!
