Correct way to restore windows after crash? [Mac.]

Post by mozillaine »

Yesterday my Firefox 56.0.2 in Mac crashed and lost all windows except one and lost some of the tabs from that last window too.

What is the right way to restore old session file to get windows back.

Already tried some instructions from net but many of these instructions are confusing.

My first step would be to backup what I have.
If you had timely, valid backups from before your crash/loss...

Anyhow, what you are left with are session*.* (so including sessionCheckpoints, IMO) in your Profile directory, & any backups that may be in the /sessionstore-backups/ subdirectory.

What instructions did you try?

I would copy (one at a time) those session files/backups into a new, clean Profile, & make my restore attempts from there.
If you get a valid restore, Quit, then copy that sessionstore.jsonlz4 file from that Profile back into your original Profile, then test to see that it opens as expected there.
Fire 750, bring back 250.
