Firefox and Hangouts?

So it was rumored that Firefox 58 was going to recover the capability to run Google Hangouts that we had pre-Quantum. Doesn't look like it does. So, anyone know the prognosis for this? It's a PIA to switch to Chrome to use Hangouts.
Wow. No info? As I said, it was nice being able to use Hangouts to make phone calls on Firefox in the olden days, when you could use non-API extensions. Now, when I want to do that, it's off to Chrome or Safari.
sorry, but not all people know about "hangouts". on android i have a special app for it but i dont use it.
from the site
listed on AMO for mac https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... atform=mac maybe you need to switch/install some extension. We're talking phone calls. http://hangouts.google.com allows you to make them in most browsers. Used to be able to in Firefox ,with an appropriate plug-in. That plug-in was rendered inoperable in Quantum. Now, when you try to make such a phone call in Firefox, an error message pops up
"Hangouts video and voice calls don’t work in Firefox for now Google is working to fix this as soon as possible. Until then, use a different supported browser. Learn more." That points to https://support.google.com/hangouts/answer/7334146?visit_id=1-636526584587825879-2741968071&p=hangouts_firefox&hl=en&rd=1. So, I guess I have to assume that a Firefox forum isn't the place to ask about this. I though I heard that this capability was re-enabled in 58 Beta at least, which was a little surprising since the error message said that Google was working on a solution.
