Using ff58 and memory
Firefox remains a memory hog. Just me?

Define memory hog? What numbers are you seeing? How many windows and tabs are open with that number? What type of pages are involved: text, video, mixed, etc?
Do you see the same numbers if you launch the application in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

And what results in Safe Mode? I'm seeing less than 1.4gb with two windows and about 10 tabs.

Not too forthcoming with urls are you?

Re: Using ff58 and memory
I discovered this over the last couple of days.
Using mozillazine as my test bed, I noticed that going from page to page was adding 200 to 400 MB to the memory usage reported in the task manager after each page load. If you didn't spend much time on each page, I could easily get the overall memory usage to reach 4 GB+, at which point Fx locked up until it released the memory on its own.
The site doesn't matter, it's any site for me. I'm thinking it's tied to uBlock for now, as it doesn't happen as severely with AdBlock Plus.
It can take a while for the memory use to drop, but it does eventually.

And having taken our own advice and checking through my installed extensions, when I disabled Yet Another Smooth Scrolling WE, the dramatic memory usage stopped, though I can still drive it up over a GB, it release quite quickly.

That's certainly not right (behavior).going from page to page was adding 200 to 400 MB to the memory usage reported in the task manager after each page load
