Java

Post by Russell C »

This morning Firefox updated to version 58. In the changes it mentions
improving the way we render graphics and cache JavaScript.
Does this mean it is again supporting Java plug in?

How many times do people need to be told Java is NOT JavaScript? So the answer is No

And mozillaZine's own article about this http://kb.mozillazine.org/JavaScript_is_not_Java

It would have been nice if they kept the original name of LiveScript to minimize the confusion between the two all these years since 1995.

The only currently supported Firefox to still allow the Java Plugin from Oracle to run is Firefox 52 ESR. Note for Windows you need the 32-bit Firefox 52 ESR as Win64 Firefox 52 ESR only allows Flash Player and Silverlight Plugins to run like the Win64 Releases before. Besides Oracle is depreciating their Java Plugin anyways. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/npapi-plugins
