Backup Email Client

Can anyone recommend an email client (not based on Gecko) that works with Windows 7 32-bit? I rather use an email client by a company in a Western country.

I'm using Windows Live Mail without Microsoft accounts, but it's discontinued. I'm worried about security issues. I don't know if I'll be able to install Windows Live Mail again since it uses an online installer.

Outlook is too expensive.

Claws Mail has no option to send HTML messages. (do not care)

The free version of eM Client only supports two accounts. (good enough)

The Bat! is a shareware email client with a trial period of 30 days. (no trialware)

The free version of Mailbird only supports one account. I read a review on cubiq.org that Mailbird phones home personal unencrypted data. (no thanks)

I've heard some good things about Pegasus Mail - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegasus_Mail . It uses its own HTML renderer.

The free version of "em client" has very little customization compared to Thunderbird, but it's pretty robust. You can configure whether you compose a message in plain text or HTML but I've never found a way to force it to display a HTML message as a plain text message. The main annoyance is that when they release a new major version (less than once per year) you need to register the free version again if you want to upgrade.

The built-in calendar supports both CalDAV and CardDAV but I haven't used that feature, or tried importing a .ics calendar (which it claims it can import, but has no provision for syncing). The Gmail support includes OAuth2.

I use it as a backup, and to help troubleshoot whether Thunderbird or the email provider is at fault. It doesn't support any add-ons which would be annoying if it was my main email client, but I consider an advantage in a backup (less to go wrong). I'm currently using it with Windows 10 x64 but previously used it with Windows 7 32-bit for several years. I've used a wide variety of IMAP email providers with it (gmail, outlook, yahoo, fastmail, comcast, zoho etc.) but have had no reason to try using it with Exchange (which the free version supports). http://www.emclient.com/pro-vs-free?lang=en compares the free and commercial versions but doesn't mention that iCloud, Apple Server, Smarter Mail and IceWarp server appear to be only supported in the paid version. I haven't found the 2 account limitation of the free version annoying. I normally keep one account with fastmail (my main email provider) and use the other account to test with.

They have offices in San Francisco, London and Prague. I can't find any mention of what renderer they use but I doubt its gecko.

The last time I tried Pegasus Mail, I had to use stunnel to get a SSL connection.

I'm going with eM Client, it looks like a good replacement for Windows Live Mail.

i am running RimArts Becky! but development seems have stopped, but IMO its no longer possible to buy a license because kagi has stopped (main reason why becky stopped) nevertheless very competitive in general with other clients. and it is portable - you can make it portable after installation - and combine mails after portable usage.

Mailbird is based on chromium, i dont like it and it was very buggy in the beginning - its translations were awful also. i dropped it in that stage.

em Client could be a nice choice, but i would by it. problem: not portable, no spam filter, strange database behavior, the last good for me was v6. for an email client it really gets too much updates and too much betas. but - its the nearest option to MS Outlook.
em client renders on gecko? i have doubt because the yuse dotnet and thats microsoft engine.
SoftMaker ecchanged em client with a modified Thunderbird.

thunderbird i never would let touch my mails, not reliable enough.

currently there is not much choice the more features or special feature some want.
Becky is more traditional while the other other use a more modern design. lacking all a decent spam filter - thats why i am using mailwasher (paid), or Mailcheck2 (free)

I was a WLM user on Win 7. When I upgraded to Win 10 I tried em Client. It had a few annoyances (in retrospect, partly due to a dying hard drive) but overall is a good replacement to WLM, though I also carried on using WLM too. Then my disk died and so couldn't get WLM again - or not in a reliable manner. So, now on em Client again. But I also use web mail and tend to switch between the two depending on context.

However, if you're used to the way WLM works then em Client is a good replacement.

Yes, has some annoyances and I agree on the database behaviour. But good enough for me for now.
