Besides that, Pocket might technically be owned by Mozilla but that stuff feels pretty sponsor-y to me…

IMO if users block ads the revenue stream dwindles so there's going to be more creative ways to get around the ad blockers.
With Mozilla having the several additional extensions which support experimental conditions it allows for some mercantile abuse of those trusts.
Similar thoughts go to a browser developing it's own ad-blocking with no ability to opt out or to edit.
