Firefox Quantum - search bar

Post by raven12 »

Firefox Quantum Sucks... Atleast for me

Earlier I used to select any text on the page, right click and was able to search it with the search engine I have selected in search bar. I enabled it by installing Classic Theme Restorer to have old search engine behavior on my Firefox browser. General UI >> Old search (experimental)

But now I can only do it with google (or the default search engine selected).

Is there any way to revert to the old thingy?

Either of these should get the Search feature back to what it was in the recent past versions, including the contextual search feature.
Options > Search = Add search bar in toolbar or open Customize and drag the Search Bar from the palette to the Toolbar.

Not sure how that compares to how that experimental feature in Classic Theme Restorer worked, as I never used that extension.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.

In case someone still looks for the "old search" Classic Theme Restorer offered, it is now part of CustomCSSforFx project and works with Firefox 57-60.

Image

Code: Select all

- 'about:config > browser.search.openintab': open search in current or new tab
- 'about:config > browser.search.suggest.enabled': search suggestions visibility
- it is possible to edit searches xml file to enable "clear input after search" and "revert to default engine after search"
- search engines popup and search popup will use search boxes width
