Hello again,
I get this when trying to update Thunderbird:
'The Update could not be installed (patch apply failed)'
How to get round it?

Re: TBird Update Fails
Clear the browser cache and the Windows Temp directory.
Download a new copy of the full installer from http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/all
Delete the directory C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird
Run the installer.
Note that your saved messages, address books, settings, passwords, etc (if any) are stored in a different directory from the program files and will not be removed by deleting the directory identified above.

Re: TBird Update Fails
Thanks.
What about the settings for plaintext, typefaces, fonts etc ? It took me weeks to set TB up to output only plaintext and to get the font sizes for the various screens correct - a nightmare !
... and of course it will save the account information ?

"Settings" includes all the items you asked about.Note that your saved messages, address books, settings, passwords, etc (if any) are stored in a different directory from the program files and will not be removed by deleting the directory identified above.
