gmail email being diverted/forward to gmail account

I have two gmail accounts, account1 and account2. For some unknown reason if I send an email from account1 to account2, when I receive the email into account2, it is reported to have come from account2 and not account1. The X-Google-Original-From: address says the correct address as account1. I have checked that nothing is being forwarded. Is this a problem with Thunderbird or Gmail?

Make sure that you have two separate SMTP server definitions in Thunderbird and that each Gmail account is associated with its corresponding server. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_: ... TP_Servers
