Firefox didn't restore tabs - what can I do?

Post by Alfred001 »

Firefox failed to restore my session, so I'm wondering what I can do to get the tabs back. I'm running 58.0.1.

Won't restarting FFox screw things up? I seem to recall (tho maybe I'm making this up) having to copy some backup file before FFox is closed, isn't there sth like that?

I followed these instructions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/commen ... om_backup/

and I found several session files around 300 kb in the session-backup folder, but when I renamed them and ran firefox it didn't find any tabs in them.

Your instructions linked are the best I have seen - if you read carefully, in addition to renaming a file it has to be moved out of the backup folder and into the main part of the Firefox folder (while Firefox is closed). If you have already tried that, sorry. By opening history in the sidebar (ctrl-H) and maybe then from view clicking "by date" you can open some sites which were previously visited. You can middle click a title such as "today" to open all sites visited today in tabs.

Also you may know already, but sometimes the menu options "restore previous session" or "recently closed tabs" or windows is of some help, under the history menu. Press alt to make the menu visible then click history to see them.
