This RIDICULOUS Captcha requirement
I tried twice and failed so I have to go thru this ridiculous captcha routine.
Who thinks this site needs to be so secure. Don't tell me to dissuade bots because a checkmark would do that. GIVE ME A BREAK!

The OP obviously knows little about the sophistication of modern spam bots

OK, let's stop with the back and forth here before it's necessary to lock this thread.

It would be nice if the counter could be set to 2 or 3. Sometimes I just enter the wrong one on first try.

@Frg I just have Firefox save my password, so I don't have to always enter it.

Re: This RIDICULOUS Captcha requirement
I often access the forums from a tablet or phone where the password is not saved. If I miss on the first try, I usually get at least one more try (total 2) before the captcha kicks in.

I'm also sure that anything stored on a phone or tablet is about as secure as me spray painting the same info on the wall of the nearest public building.Mouse4 wrote:im sure Chrome saves the password on a phone using this forum
I choose not to store any passwords on them.

I do as well, just saving my passwords is nice to not always have to remember, for example when I visit the forum.Mouse4 wrote:i use the feature as i dont wanna happen to remember all my passwords or i might as well not have a forum account, only thing i wont store an thats Creditcard or anything like that details whether that be on a phone or the computers browser let alone my addressFrank Lion wrote:I'm also sure that anything stored on a phone or tablet is about as secure as me spray painting the same info on the wall of the nearest public building.Mouse4 wrote:im sure Chrome saves the password on a phone using this forum

Here with SeaMonkey it is game over after the first wrong try. Might be user group specific or maybe phpbb differentiates between mobile an desktop. I know I can save the passsword permanetly just decided to disable it globally on my "travel" laptop.
