Add Google advanced search?

Post by Bennyd »

How do I add Google Advanced search (at https://www.google.com/advanced_search to my list of search engines? There is no green check on the search icon when I'm on that search page, and I could not find an add on to do it.

Thanks.

That is a webpage which doesn't offer an A9 Open Search Plugin in XML format, which is the type of Search Plugin that Firefox recognizes and will offer to install as signified by that green check mark. Sherlock type search plugins are recognized ans usable by Firefox and other Mozilla-based browsers but have fallen out of favor in the last decade, as that type of search plugin doesn't work with IE or Chrome. Both work with Firefox now-a-days.

My suggestion is to peruse the Mycroft Project website for a compatible Google Advanced Search Plugin or just Bookmark that page and add a Keyword to the Properties for that Bookmark so that the Keyword can be used to search viz the Location Bar / Address Bar. Won't work for the Search Bar though.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. Mine has wandered off and I'm out looking for it.
