2nd Nightly is out and again got the 38.1meg push. Is the new 'partial mar' ? or is there something wrong with their builder. Seems pointless to make a mar for just saving a couple of megs download from a full push.

I'm starting to think we have been getting full pushes since the 10th. The 9th was a 7meg push but up to that date Linux and Macs were not getting any builds as I recall. So whatever they 'fixed' for those platforms, broke or messed up Windows builds perhaps.

I've been sick with flu for a week, and still sick, not thinking too good and really have no idea how to track down any possible regression range.

No, I have been getting partials, including tonight's Nightly push, but the partials are HUGE. Tonight's was 38.7 MB, which is smaller than the 43.5 MB that a complete would be. This is for en-US.win64.

Yes, it would be nice if someone could ask why the partials are running so large vs. when they used to be around 7-8 MB.

i would call that a Full Update, not a Partial.

could someone do a Test here, i thought it was a Ubo Bug now i have my doubts, but if you go here http://www.essendonfc.com.au/video/2018 ... nce-feb-15 you should see a Tweet an Share Buttons. it works fine in Chrome, but not Firefox , seems like a Firefox Bug itself as i had disabled Ubo an no difference, i have Ubo installed in Chrome an Enabled, i see the 2 buttons just below the video

Tweet/Share both work for me...Share opens Facebook, and Tweeter opens the app for that.

Well, the partial is saving 11% of the bytes, but as far as what the download routine calls it, it is still a partial.

This is from my file:///C:/Users/Mark12547/AppData/Local/Mozilla/updates/6F193CCC56814779/updates.xml and extracting just the update for tonight (most recent update is at the top of updates.xml, the oldest are deleted off the bottom of updates.xml):

Code: Select all

<update appVersion="60.0a1" buildID="20180214220040" channel="nightly" displayVersion="60.0a1" installDate="1518660591858" isCompleteUpdate="false" name="Nightly 60.0a1" promptWaitTime="43200" serviceURL="https://aus5.mozilla.org/update/6/Firefox/60.0a1/20180214111549/WINNT_x86_64-msvc-x64/en-US/nightly/Windows_NT%206.1.1.0.7601%20(x64)(noBug1296630v1)(nowebsense)/ISET:SSE4A,MEM:7667/default/default/update.xml?force=1" type="minor" detailsURL="https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/nightly/notes/" previousAppVersion="60.0a1" statusText="The Update was successfully installed" platformVersion="60.0a1" foregroundDownload="true">
<patch size="45577031" state="null" type="complete" URL="https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2018/02/2018-02-14-22-00-40-mozilla-central/firefox-60.0a1.en-US.win64.complete.mar"/>
<patch selected="true" size="40543442" state="succeeded" type="partial" URL="https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/partials/2018/02/2018-02-14-22-00-40-mozilla-central/firefox-mozilla-central-60.0a1-win64-en-US-20180214111549-20180214220040.partial.mar" entityID="%220fb59149e092a2591b58495e5ffd8dee%22/40543442/Thu, 15 Feb 2018 01:07:29 GMT"/></update>
From the update, you can see there were two available patches to bring the installed Nightly current:

Code: Select all

<patch size="45577031" state="null" type="complete" .../>
<patch selected="true" size="40543442" state="succeeded" type="partial" .../>
The size is in bytes (divide by 1024^2 to convert to MB). The selected="true" identifies which patch was applied. The type identifies whether this is a complete or partial (differential) image. The URL (sorry, you will have to look near the bottom of the the big code block) identifying where the patch would be pulled from and it ending with "complete.mar" or "partial.mar" agrees with the type as far as whether this is a partial (differential update) or complete (full replacement) update.

It sure looks like something changed almost a week ago to cause partial updates to be so large vs. how small they had been before.

Tweet/Share both work for me...Share opens Facebook, and Tweeter opens the app for that.
they dont work for me

ok i just got another update, dunno what the size was as i wasnt watching .

im gonna do another fresh Profile. brb
think i found the issue, it was a setting in firefox i had itself. a clue, it was ( enable container Tabs ) or ( Ctrl+Tab cycles through tabs in recently used order ) this time i have neither of those 2 Checked

Thank you!

I added the partial and full sizes for the most recent ten updates as well as a copy of my updates.xml file to make it more apparent the recent partials are quite large.
