Ublock origin question

Post by tonino2424 »

Hi,

When i am viewing this page here https://imgur.com/a/dZkX6 you will notice in the bottom right, there is a video that pops up which i do not want to see. Every time I select X to close it out it reappears all the time. I tried using ublock origin, select what i will the the EYE DROP icon, highlite it and hit CREATE, it wont keep it from appearing. Is there a way using UBO to do it so i never will see it? Or, any other way?

thx

Try this:

Code: Select all

www.nbcsports.com##.sticky.vod-embed-player
That will allow the video to keep playing at the top of the page, but it will not follow you down the page.

Reason: added code tags because the board keeps turning the filter into a link

You would put that in the "My Filters" tab of the uBlock dashboard. The actual line(s) should read:

Code: Select all

! Floating video player that pops up when you scroll down on www.nbcsports.com
www.nbcsports.com##.sticky.vod-embed-player
The first line is just a comment so you can remember what the code is for. My first post is in error because the forum turned the filter into a link when it shouldn't have.

That's what it looks like while the video content is loading. Once the video is loaded the orange sign goes away.

nbcsports is whitelisted here in uB, but even with uMatrix off and hosts file off in windows i dont get that player window. could be flash related because i dont have flash for firefox installed. about extension - not the first time known for trouble, i would uninstall.

Strange. I created a new profile, added uBlock Origin, added the filter, visited the page, and the video did not popup in the lower right. Did you reload the page after adding the filter? Are you certain that uBlock is enabled for the page/site?

I have had no issues with ublock origin. Also, ABP uses a lot more memory and allows some advertising by default which really bothers me.

oh, now i c - no - i meant the extension which is causing the orange "V", not uBlock. uBlock is working like charm here, thx.

the causing extension is somehow something against html5 videos, similar
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... t-blocker/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /twitch_5/

need to extend search for v56
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ash-html5/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... all-html5/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... validator/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... tml5-loop/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... k-checker/
(similar...)

should check installed extensions and disable this crap.
